2015 ICC Cricket World Cup is about to happen. It will be the 11th event which is going to be held from February 14 to March 29, 2015 hosted jointly by Australia and New Zealand. Bangladesh is one of the participants in 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup. This will be Bangladesh’s 5th time participation in the ICC World Cup. Bangladesh’s mission will be difficult in new condition in Australia and New Zealand. However, Cricket is an unpredictable game. Dr. Maqsudul Alam Inventor of Jute Genome

Dr Maqsudul Alam, a Bangladeshi American Scientist, is widely accredited as an inventor of Jute genome. Scientist Maqsudul Alam came to spot light while he invented the genome sequence of ‘Tosha’ jute – the Jute Plant Draft Genome – in June, 2010. Alam was a professor of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and was also a member of advisory board at SUST. He passed away on December 20, 2014. But his invention has given him special accreditation in the world.

According to Accident Research Centre (ARC) of BUET, annually over 12,000 people died and at least 35,000 become injured or disabled due to road accident. Lots of families have been losing their only earner and some are losing their near and dear one. Road accident is becoming an epidemic in the country. The matter must take seriously as an urgent issue.


BCB Allows Shakib Al Hasan to Play Foreign Leagues

Bangladesh Cricket Broad (BCB) allows Shakib Al Hasan to play foreign leagues which was blocked until 31 December 2015 as a penalty given by BCB to Shakib for breaching team discipline. However, on 4 December 2014 Nazmul Hasan Papon, President of BCB, has given the news of withdrawn on Shakib’s playing foreign leagues. Now, Shakib Al Hasan is free to play in abroad/foreign leagues.

Basundhara Cement Test Series & ODI Series 2014 will be marked particularly for tow records made by Shakib al Hasan and Taijul Islam. Shakib Al Hasan is third player in world’s cricket after Ian Botham and Imran Khan to score a century and take ten (10) wickets in a Test. Taijul Islam is the first bowler in ODI history to achieve a hat-trick on debut. However, Bangladesh Team have completed a successful Test & ODI series in this year 2014.

Dr. Atiur Rahman, Governor of Bangladesh Bank, was awarded the Gusi Peace Prize 2014 “For his contributions as a Poor Man’s Economist”. The Gusi Peace Prize 2014 given to 13 Laureates of different countries. Atiur Rahman is one of them. Gusi Peace Prize is world’s one of the most prestigious prizes given by Gusi Foundation mainly for contribution to global peace and progress.


Architect Syed Mainul Hossain Man Who Design Jatiyo Smriti Soudho

Architect Syed Mainul Hossain is a Bangladeshi famous architect who designed the Jatiyo Smriti Soudho (National Martyrs' Memorial) at Savar in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The construction of Jatiyo Sriti Shoudho started in the year 1978 and completed in 1982. Though Syed Mainul Hossain passed away from us on 10 November 2014, he will be remembered forever for his magnificent design and creation.


Some Private Universities Are Running Illegally in Bangladesh

There are 79 private universities in Bangladesh. Among these universities, few of them are violating the rules and conditions of UGC. A number of universities are running illegal campuses. Some universities have ownership problem and nonexistence of permanent campus. Moreover, certificate trading and lack of norm of education are also marked in some private universities.
